Try out the best kayaking and canoeing in South Wales! Great scenery. Great instruction.
Want to see the Gower peninsula from a totally different perspective and maybe catch a sight of some fantastic marine life?
Our top location for sit-on-top sea kayaking in Swansea is Oxwich Beach.
For an alternative location we can meet you at our inland venue at the stunning Swiss Valley Reservoir near Llanelli. This is ideal if you want to bring a dog or if the weather is stormy.
There are three different levels for this opportunity:
1. Beginner level: sheltered inland water such as the Swiss Valley Reservoir. Learn basic skills of using a sit-on-top kayak.
2. Beginner and Intermediate level: sheltered bays such as the beautiful Oxwich Bay. Develop your basic skills for use on the sea.
3. Advanced level: exposed coastline of the Gower. Use your skills on the exposed coastline and gain an understanding of tide navigation and rescue.
Our expert instructors know the coastline of Gower well and will tailor the activity depending on your ability and the weather conditions on the day.
Schedule
Meet us at the location.
We begin with trying on wetsuits and lifejackets, safety briefing and basic instructions on kayaking techniques.
A couple of hours activity then break for lunch.
If the weather is fine and you are up for a challenge we can suggest a kayaking journey along the coastline.
Finish at approx. 4 pm.
Information on the Oxwich National Nature Reserve
Our favourite sea kayaking location is Oxwich. The Wales Coastal Path passes through Oxwich Burrows, an area of national significance in terms of flora and fauna, but out of sight and sound of the sea. It is an unusual and fascinating place. How amazing to have such an interesting nature reserve so close to the sea. The Oxwich National Nature Reserve is made up of beach, sand dunes, lakes, woodlands, cliffs salt and freshwater marshes.
